Global actions to improve health could result in no country having a life expectancy rate below the age 60 years by 2025, according to Health Minister Dr Leslie Ramsammy.Dr Ramsammy made this ambitious disclosure during his inaugural address to the 61st World Health Assembly (WHA) in Geneva, Switzerland, after assuming the Presidency of the premier international Health organization. The Minister advocated for a “60 by 25 initiative”, a proposed action that could result in the life expectancy rate being increased since it has been observed that more than 50 countries have a life expectancy rate of below 50 years. He also appealed for concerted global action to reduce child deaths and to eliminate all preventable child deaths by 2025.Minister Ramsammy asserted that the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) must not be seen as an end, but rather as a springboard for the elimination of all preventable child deaths by 2025. He argued that for this to become possible, poverty must be ended by 2025. And according to him the proposed ventures are entirely within the capacity of the world. With an economy of about US$70,cheap nfl jerseys black friday,000 one that is doubling about every 15 years, Minister Ramsammy believes that the world has the capacity for collective action to end poverty. As such, the Minister urged the gathering drawn from some 198 countries “to have the audacity to dream of a world without preventable child deaths and a world with no poverty… (and) to have the audacity to demand the end of preventable child deaths.”And though the targets may seem like but a dream,Discount NFL Jerseys, he pointed out that they could very well become a reality soon. As President of the 61st WHA, Dr Ramsammy is supported by Vice-Presidents from the Congo, Estonia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, the Maldives, and Sudan.
