Those who had not seen the land of many waters in years, returned only to witness the moment when their beloved Aunt Emmie enters the second century of her life.She sat dressed in a baby pink suit in front of a cake baked in her honour.Kaieteur News absorbed the praises that poured in from all and sundry.Songs, poems and proverbs were all used to describe Aunt Emmie but many believed that those words were inadequate to describe Aunt Emmie and the great things she has done in her life.Aunt Emmie’s family strolled down memory lane as they recalled her taking them to church, demanding that they go Sunday school, and giving them words of wisdom which they believed helped to make them the persons they are today.The woman, who still climbs staircases and peels ground provisions, was a well-known winemaker in her glory days, being able to make tasty wine from almost any ingredient; from plantain to potatoes.In brief recounts of Aunt Emmie a few years ago, many vowed that she was the only one who could make them eat squash as a fruit.While she wasn’t the aunt who would take them to roam the streets of Georgetown, she was the one whom they could always depend on to tinkle their taste buds.The woman, whose family hails from Buxton, was born and raised in Bel Air. She got married and lived at Lot 53 Stone Avenue, Campbellville. She bore five children and was blessed with four stepsons whom she adores to this day.The woman’s daughter,Cheap NFL Jerseys, Maylene Barker, told Kaieteur News that despite her age, her mother would be up every morning singing hymns and praises of the Lord.
